Today's finished object: 18th century panniers. Came across the cane strips in the closet where I had forgotten them, so perhaps I need to make more. 🪡

I award myself points for making medieval headgear out of scraps of fabric. Bonus points for using every bit of that floral ribbon. EowynsCloset on Etsy 🪡

Phew. Three days from start to finish for this medieval "tire" hat. Applying that gold cord over a curved surface is mentally exhausting! EowynsCloset on Etsy. 🪡

Catching up with projects. A Victorian morning wrapper for wearing before donning your corset; three pairs of Elizabethan wrist ruffs, starched and hung to dry; and some edges being dagged for a medieval hood.🪡

Mine preparing to knock shit off the sofa, stick her claws in it, and bite me because I am not touching her exactly right. Senile idiot. The cat, too.

As I prepared to soak this guy in hot water to melt out the last honey, I wished yet again for some of my old lab equipment. A heating stir plate and stir bar, that straight-sided glass dish, and a lead donut, specifically. Okay, maybe not the stir bar.

That silk ruffle has found a home on a partlet. Maybe now that I've made something out of this fabric my brain will quiet down about it.

Ready! Dollar store toys instead of candy. Mandarins, ramen, and potatoes for whimsy. Glow stick bracelets to be added after dark. All has proven popular in previous years. I don't bother to supervise. No leftovers to tempt me (except potatoes and fruit).

Oh, all right, one more felted Tudor hat, and then we're switching from knitting to bobbin lace for a while.🧶

Tell me, striped silk organza with threads of gold, what do you wish to become? An Elizabethan partlet? Sleeve overlays? A Victorian shirtwaist? Tell me.🪡

Beauty and the Beast. Front and back of the front edge of a Tudor gable hood, showing why I will put a lining on the back.🪡

The magic of felting. Knitted wool + hot water + cold water + hot water + cold water + hot water + cold water + lots of rubbing and squeezing and agitation = Tudor caps🧶

Freshly baked gluten free bread. Most of it will become crumbs, but tonight I get to enjoy a slice of bread with my homemade borscht, a simple but rare pleasure.

Making Russian cabbage borscht from the Moosewood cookbook. The cube of frozen beets (is that a beetbox?) is certainly a look.
