Crazy cat & dog lady, into naps, and lover of wine, cheese, and chocolate.
How long until Canada recognizes refugee claims by U.S. citizens arguing they are at great personal risk at the hands of their despotic administration?

Why make up problems in a country with too many already?! As if this is a legitimate gripe. Learn to long press on your SMS alerts for translation. As a non tech savvy English speaker, I’ve managed Chinese language alerts this way for decades.

Larry has his paw on the pulse of Pride Month.
June is LGBT Pride Month. Love is love. Be your fabulous selves.

Old Max risking being recycled for the joy of a cardboard box, but foster dog Juno is on the case. Don’t worry bub. Nobody gets tossed outside around here.

Second Chance Animal Aid foster dog Juno wishes you a hoppy Sunday from Shanghai.

I would love it if we could popularize the Chinese phrase “Tu Hao” (土豪) pronounced ‘too how’, when describing Trump. In China, it’s become slang for the gaudy, out-of-touch, nouveau-riche folks who buy their dog Apple Watches while factories close. Trump is so Tu Hao. Come on, say it with me!

Maybe not quite ‘friends’, but at least not frenemies. With so few foster homes to help these days, our supposedly temporary way-station of new rescues is always overcapacity. Kindly consider FOSTERING for your community heroes. Please and thank you.

It’s official. I can no longer refer to what I do as ‘cat sitting’ when a certain tripod insists that I remain prone. Ha ha.

Maybe, just maybe, it’s partly due to the fact that America no longer has partners and allies?
This past week, the Chinese learned

1) exactly where Trump's pain points are;

2) how much to squeeze them before he flinches;

and

3) how little America's partners and allies want to help this president.

Highly useful information.

We may be over five thousand miles away in Shanghai this sunny Sunday afternoon, but cheers to all the inspiring photos and videos of the Hands Off rallies from across America today.

It’s a long weekend in Shanghai. Our foster dog Juno is making the most of the 24C-degree Saturday sunshine. Cheers bub.

Reese. Just wondering what sh*t the world will throw at us today. Don’t worry little buddy. We’re ready.

I stay squishy for the cats. Yeah. That’s it. Ha ha.

LMAO. Right on 🎯

I’m hoping these soft e collars that I like to call ‘pet donuts’ inspire a human version. Tired? Do like Reese. Just lean back… or forward… or to one side. And voila! Nap time 💤

LMAO. So much for playing brain-boosting games on my phone. This ad, interrupting my relaxing coloring app, made me laugh at least. Gonna stick with Happy Color.

It’s time my family stop worrying about me for simply ‘living in China’ and start worrying about the Americans they know, who are living in the U.S.A.
March 18, 2025 at 5:35 AM
I’m really enjoying this level of polite Canadian pettiness. Please keep it up. And spread the word. LMAO

The double-edged sword of learning in rescue work. Years in, I now know severe ear infections can trigger seizures. Poor Reese and his ruptured ear drum. He hid this from me in uber stealth mode until his seizures gave him away. Thankfully recovering ok. He’s as sweet as his namesake.

Taking a breather. A bit annoyed that Bluesky is feeding me a bunch of posts of people yelling, with spelling errors too. Don’t need that on either end of the divide.

I feel downright helpless as a Canadian expat in China, not only reading this, but seeing so many of my friends and family in Canada still taking trump’s delusional and dangerous ambitions merely as a joke.

It’s a good thing I have, and totally adore, many white men in my life. Otherwise Facebook would put me off them forever.
