Best watched for some relief & laffs amid The Horrors. Shoutout to Detroiters & Peewee’s Playhouse but itysl is somehow both wackier & more consistently funny. “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” tv show promo poster. Pretty damn explicitly anti-fascist & featuring the most canonical (thx actors) non-canonical (boo producers) Daddy/boy relationship in sci-fi ✨Garashir forever✨ & one of the best characters is a transsexual humanoid/slug. Also very sweet multigenerational Black family representation (Captain Benjamin Sisko, his son Jake, & his father who’s a chef in New Orleans on earth)… Star Trek can be corny sometimes but when it’s good it’s really fucking good. Unfortunate that the Ferengi are clearly based on an amalgamation of highly embarrassing (for the show’s writers) anti-Jewish (& some anti-Arab) stereotypes, but even those characters have some excellent moments & character development.

“Glennis, Peeking” - Acrylic on (I believe) canvas - 12/2024
Globs of acrylic paint in many colors dapple a small square white canvas; a long thin brown line of paint traces the edge of Glennis’ log where he likes to hide; a very long thick bright orange line represents Glennis himself- the snake, the snyth, the snegend. I am holding the painting in front of a large glass aquarium in which Glennis the real cornsnake is poking his head out from another one of his hides, like a mossy little house hanging from the top of the tank (Glennis’ “ceiling”).

so i’ve been getting into painting lately… i did this one in the inpatient rehab hospital after my brain surgery: “Tomlin” - acrylic paint on (i think) canvas - 12/2024
my ESA dog Tomlin (a mostly black 60 lb short-haired pit bull/lab mix with floppy velvety ears, a light gray raccoon-mask-looking face, mostly white muzzle) curled up on a dark gray couch with a red pillow behind her & a small painting i did of her on a square white canvas leaning gently against her haunches. The painting itself is a large brown central area with dollops of mostly browns, yellows, & greens mostly to the right of it, & a small bit of red representing her tongue. many of the paint smudges are her favorite treats: an apple slice with peanut butter, a baby carrot, & a few popped popcorn kernels. small white blobs adorn her front paws, or as we call them, her “paw” and her “sock.” Tomlin’s tail is thick at the base in both the painting & real life. She is a silly creature & has done great work in her illustrious career as my “therapy horse.”
