We all get things wrong and we should be more upfront about admitting this - and showing our audiences that we are willing to correct and amend our output. But bad faith actors - and most of them are not politicians - have always exploited our errors as evidence of our untrustworthiness.

I guess you have to work out how powerful - whatever we mean by that - is a country and then how concentrated its power structures are. Is America no 1? Well, that’s not a ridiculous position but it’s also no longer an obvious one. On real GDP, as an eg, the US is now way behind China.

I have no idea how you would work out the most powerful person in the world. Trump may have concentrated more power than previous US presidents but does he have the sway of a Xi or a Putin or a Modi? Maybe. But not obviously so, right?
