Today's figure of the day is a dinogorgon from Schleich! It is cool to think of these weird predators as our ancestors.

Today's figure of the day is Huayangosaurus, made by Haolonggood. This figure is teeny tiny at 1/35 scale, and the paint job has a few stains from an overenthusiastic wash. Another in my small but growing collection from the Shaximiao formation.

Today's figure of the day is Nemicolopterus, an indeterminate species of pterosaur from China. Is it a juvenile or adult? We aren't sure because some pterosaurs had fused bones earlier in their development. This little figure used to be very rare, but then PNSO made another run.

Todays's figure of the day is Lythronax, from Creative Beast! This was a midsized Tyrannosaurid that probably loved to eat Diabloceratops. Luckily, Creative Beast also made some Diabloceratops babies so you can recreate that spectacle at home.

Today's figure of the day is a Sinraptor from Vitae. I can't get this toy to stand properly and Vitae made a lot of choices that i would not have. It is frankly too textured, or maybe textured without reason. But i love the Shaximiao formation and try to pick up whatever i can from it.

Today's figure of the day is this Tethyshadros pair from Wild Past! The main appeal is the miniature size, fitting for an island dwarf.

Today's figure of the day is Nigersaurus, made by Safari Ltd. This sauropod has such a bizarre head. There are some proportional issues with this figure, but it sure beats the collecta and Mattel versions. It has a strange dignity.

Today's figure of the day is a Hyaenodon made by Safari Ltd. What a fearsome brute.

it's been a minute since i posted a figure of the day. Here is a Mastodonsaurus, a Triassic temnospondyl that grew to 20 feet. Manufacturer is Bullyland. This is a highly coveted figure in my little community. I like it because I think it looks like hypnotoad.

Today's figure of the day is a Zhuchengtitan made by Meng. Even though some companies have started putting out huge sauropods, it's nice to have a few at a smaller scale.
January 14, 2025 at 1:57 PM
Todays's figure of the day is a Gastornis from Safari Ltd. This large flightless bird was once believed to be a fearsome predator but many now think it was more likely to be vegetarian.

Today's figure of the day is a Boobook owl made by Science and Nature. I am a big fan of the exaggerated eyes and splotchy chest daubs.

Today's figure is this Carnegie collection Caudipteryx. I missed out on most of the really cool carnegies and now they are hard to find for a good price. This weird little dude is a joy (there is also a toob version from safari ltd proper that is a different sculpt).

Today's figure of the day is a dodo from safari ltd. Apparently this depiction is a little rounder than they got in their natural habitat, but most images of dodos were made of overfed birds in captivity.

Today's figure of the day is this Qianzhousaurus from Safari Ltd. My favorite features on this model are the lower legs and the bright yet muddy coloratio .
December 18, 2024 at 3:38 PM
Today's figure of the day is Acrocanthosaurus from PNSO. It's great to have a dinosaur from my state (Maryland). This one is pretty big and very detailed, but the lipless mouth gives it a big overbite when the mouth is closed.
December 17, 2024 at 2:48 PM
Today's figure is Brighstoneus, a hadrosauriform dinosaur from the exciting Wessex formation on the Isle of Wight. Another prancing dinosaur and just a cute model, short and sweet. Made by CollectA

Today i am featuring this Pachyrhinosaurus from Battat. I own many figures of his dinosaur but like this pose the best because it captures the animal ready to launch against a rival. #dinotoys
December 13, 2024 at 1:47 PM
Today's figure is Helicoprion from PNSO. Though similar to a shark in reconstruction, this is a chimera fish. Most of the body is pure guesswork because cartilage is not preserved. But those saw-like teeth are found all over the world.
December 12, 2024 at 4:04 PM
Today's figure of tue day is this Argentinosaurus from Haolonggood! Easily the largest dino toy i own, absolutely dwarfs even the other sauropods. The level of detail is astonishing. #dinotoys
December 11, 2024 at 2:32 PM
Today's figure of the day is a Sinosauropteryx from PNSO. This pose is very similar to the death pose of the famous fossil, which i am not wild about because death distorts the skeleton into unnatural poses for life. But i am wild about the accurate coloring known from remains.
December 10, 2024 at 4:27 PM
Today's figure of the day is this Jinyunpelta from Vitae. I love this prancing happy ankylosaur. #dinotoys
December 9, 2024 at 4:31 PM
Today's figure of the day is Tupuxuara, made by Papo. This has the trademark "monstrous" feel that I generally don't like about Papo's prehistoric figures, but the unique pose and choice of animal--in this case--more than make up for a lack of feathers. #pterotoys #papo
December 6, 2024 at 4:25 PM
Today's figure of the day is Dimetrodon, this one made by Safari Ltd. I enjoy how powerful and tense the pose is, where the limbs seem caught mid movement, reminiscent of a monitor lizards (even though this guy is part of a different lineage). #stemmammaltoys #safariltd
