the invasive Asian tiger mosquito (the one that made your life miserable last summer) have a HUGE set of these hook-like structures.

These male genital structures are rapidly evolving and have some crazy shapes across the mosquito tree of life.

My favorite ones are Wyeomyia smithii's "chicken legs":

The male tries to copulate with the female. ALWAYS.

No matter whether the female is not receptive, busy sucking blood, or if he just mated with her a few seconds ago.
