For those of you who do tech support for your family and friends over Thanksgiving - I'm not even joking:

Installing adblockers is one of the best cybersecurity improvements you can do for them.

Oh sure, patch their systems, remove bloatware, make sure Windows Defender or whatever is running […]

Is #openstreetmap how Google Maps gets its biking directions? Because it is doing a terrible job at biking directions in #tucson and I'd like to help fix that. We have "bike boulevards" here which don't necessarily have bike lanes, but are slightly annoying to drive on and therefore should be […]

Academics, looks like there's an open letter against solar geoengineering that you can sign on to here: https://www.solargeoeng.org/

There’s no one whose whole deal I want to know more than the TikTok lady that is building a mine under her house. Like, why??? This is a concerning hobby.

So Bitterleaf Teas has a Ya Shi Xiang Dancong and Shu Puer blend that's pretty interesting. It's like smoother dancong or a brighter shu puer. Missed opportunity to name it Shit & Pu though...

If you ask an LLM to interpret a plot, it gives you the interpretation that makes sense to it *without looking at the actual data*: https://posit.co/blog/introducing-bluffbench/
When plotting, LLMs see what they expect to see - Posit
Data science agents need to accurately read plots even when the content contradicts their expectations. Our testing shows today's LLMs still struggle here.

Trigger warning.

“In crashes, SUVs are more likely to strike vital organs in the core of adults’ bodies & heads of children. Hitting pedestrians above their center of gravity means they’re more likely to be knocked forward & down and then be driven over.”

Plus more likely to hit in the 1st place.

I had this idea to display/store the various metro cards I've collected from traveling, but not sure how to go about it. I'm thinking something that hangs on the wall and has like 9-ish slots for horizontal 2 x 3.25 in cards. Has anyone seen anything like this or have any ideas?

I’ve been testing a theory: many people who are high on #ai and #LLMs are just new to automation and don’t realize you can automate processes with simple programming, if/then conditions, and API calls with zero AI involved.

So far it’s been working!

Whenever I’ve been asked to make an AI flow […]
