They should stay away from future day of protests unless they can remain peaceful and not destroy stuff. Outside of that one block, things were, overall, pretty peaceful. Trump got his panties in a wad and I think it may have been in part because of all the grafitti — “Fuck ICE” and “Fuck Trump” /3

Were there some agitators today? Sure, but there usually are in most protests of size. NONE of these was overly violent or out of hand. There was one contained area in which 5 waymo cars were burned, but no injuries or threat. The jerks who did this burning didn’t help LA’s cause at all. /2

They don’t get to have the excuse of non-accountability by way of disguising their LE officers, if, in fact, that is what they are. My gut tells me these are likely people who participate in militias - maybe even participated in J6 riot. If so, we need legit disclosure or hearings and FAST.

Noem says masks are to “protect" OK, Seems reasonable to me if protesters want to wear masks to protect themselves too. The difference is that one side of that equation is *accountable* to the PUBLIC, and full face-masks and non-uniforms do not meet that level of identifiable accountability.

Noem doesn’t know WHAT the law even means (as demonstrated by her description of “writ of habeus corpus”). Is there law saying protesters cannot wear masks? (I don’t think so.) As Ms. Brennan pointed out, some of the so-called LE are wearing full-face masks. How do ppl know they are legit LE?

This is first thing I thought of when Trump admin announced their intent to federalize CA National Guard. Many people around now are not old enough to remember. I urge those who are younger to read the history of the Kent State shootings. List to CSNY’s “Ohio”, ask elders about it. History matters.

I did and will continue to do so. It’s probably going to be required for at least the near term.

Insurrection? Really? Where? Trump & Miller are looking for a place to start a fight to justify their claim. I have seen no evidence of any insurrection in CA. These people are freaking delusional (and dangerous if this keeps up). Someone needs to walk the admin off this fragile ledge.

You are very right. Have lived in CA for decades now and, while I don’t always agree with LE responses to protests, gatherings, etc., they are competent at their jobs for the most part. So far, every protest I have participated in, watched or seen has been peaceful. Every damn one.
