Yeah - we all agree. So now what?

Yeah - we all agree with that. So now what?

Exactly. We need to get past the clever words & hot takes for posts & media appearances and into the action part of defeating fascism.

And … there’s a lot of overlap in those groups.

They’re only mad that she is putting a spotlight on MAGA’s hypocrisy.

This trend can be traced back to the US founding. The political right has never fully bought into American Democracy, a govt based on institutions, norms, and the rule of law, rather than a govt based on allegiance to an individual. What’s changed is their numbers - enabled by social media

The political right has always tended to form cult followings behind charismatic leaders. Recently, that’s been the MAGA movement. Before that, the TEA Party movement. Earlier, there was the Contract with America movement, the so-called Moral Majority, the John Birch Society, and so on.

The problem with journalism for years has been that the “riveting story” is more important than the truth.

Media helps oligarchy take shape - left, right, center, corporate, independent, all know that Trump is good for business. Competent & professional govt is boring and not great TV, but Trump and his chaos circus, with clowns, grifters, and criminals, is like a 24/7 reality show. How do we address?

I have a cost cutting suggestion for DOGE. Since Rs control both House & Senate and do whatever Trumps says, they serve no purpose. Send them & their staff home and cut off their pay until midterms. Trump can speak for them without them being present and cashing paychecks.

I wish I believed that. All we heard from Dems after the conservative border bill got killed was, "That's it! Rs now OWN the border." Then Nov rolled around. Rs win partly because of conditions at the border, both real and imagined.

Thanks. Important clarification.

and they won't notice that GOP policies hurt them. I wouldn't want Dems to engage in similarly coercive and manipulative tactics, but Dems have to find more effective ways to counter. Harris & Walz were refreshingly positive and optimistic but, unfortunately, that didn't inspire the needed turnout.

For years now, the GOP has successfully pursued a cynical and disrespectful political strategy based on an axiom first articulated in a Baltimore Sun OpEd in 1926 - "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." Keep voters distracted with culture-war nonsense ...

Is also looking to end free market dynamics by picking winners & losers as Putin does in Russia. That’s why the oligarchs are kissing his ass and fluffing his ego.
