The above graph should be put into perspective. Hungary imports about 25% of its net electricity consumption. So while solar has a huge share of the electricity produced in Hungary, it doesn’t have such an impressive share of the electricity consumed in Hungary.

Even according to this graph, Germans will buy more BEVs than ICEs from 2031 onwards. ICE production facilities will increasingly turn into liabilities. So why do the carmakers want to hold on to those liabilities longer?

What are German carmakers expecting out of this? It won’t boost ICE sales since anybody can buy ICEs for the next ten years even under the existing regulation. And in ten years BEV demand will surpass demand for ICEs.

The German army struggles with recruitment but received a large money injection. There is a bunch of foreign well-trained soldiers in Germany who are not paid by their government. I envision a win-win situation here.
