This is my college sophomore. His classes are reading heavy and he prints everything out and marks it up. It it how he absorbs and analyzes information. It doesn’t hurt that he saw his Gen X parents with red pens and highlighters doing our work. Both my kids think (hope?) AI will bust.

Exactly. This guy needs to be reminded that one day not too long from now, what he is doing to people will be done to him. He’s just a means to an end and then he will be terrorized, too.

Yes, and remind them that what they’ve done will not be forgotten. Whether it be their day in court or their judgment day, they will be held accountable.

I’ll have to see if I can find the segment to watch. My sons are very politically engaged and vote, not just in presidential elections but also every local election. One of them started serving as an election judge as soon as he was eligible.

The good news is that at least some of them see this baseline as unacceptable. My two boys (19 and 23) have no problem telling their peers about the dangers of Trump. My 19yo college history major knows more about the rise of autocracies and autocratic leaders than most college educated adults.

There is hope. My sons - a college sophomore and a recent college graduate - despise Trump and see the destruction. But they also know that many of their peers support this administration. I just hope my boys, bc they are politically engaged and educated, can change minds.

Thank you for sharing your son’s letter! I monitor a lawsuit regarding kids in foster care and spend a lot of time reviewing case files. I often see autistic children described as non-verbal but I know that doesn’t mean they can’t communicate. This seems to be forgotten too often!

I did/said a lot of things as a “kid” that I’m thankful are not on the internet. Not ONE SINGLE ONE of them involved praising Hitler, disgusting comments about Black people, or celebrating rape. You can do stupid things without being a horrible racist and anti-Semite like these Young Republicans.

As an Orioles fan, I completely understand this. The rhythm of a baseball season - even a disappointing one - is something I really miss in the off season. On a related note, our son goes to college in St. Paul and we love visiting Target Field - great ballpark!
