I’m reading at an absolute glacial pace and have to have my phone dictionary open at all times, but by god I’m actually understanding this thing.

As far as the SF6 “scary lady charging at you from behind a non-standard fireball” function goes, I like Mai way more than Aki, but maybe a little less than Juri.

Charged/OD fan is hilarious and a consistent AA is always welcome, but her combo routing isn’t as fun as the other two.

I thought it was just me accidentally detaching my link lever mid set, but I apparently literally destroyed the whole thing because I play like a yeti.

In which i accidentally rip the lever out of my stick mid match and have to scramble for another one before Zangief mauls me.

So it’s really hard to judge the strength of a character after 3 days of mostly mirror matches, but Sagat feels super fun to play!
Definitely a mainstay on the character rotation.

Reviewing her trailer, a lot of her moves have a great sense of weight and impact and her lunge punch super *literally* has a reaction shot akin to what I wanted for the above clip. So now I’m more confused.

Me, between sobs: “Stop jumping at me! I still need to learn whiff punishes with this character”

Among other small things, my wife got me some stickers for decorating my console for Christmas.

Shout outs to her tracking down an incredibly obscure silent hill 3 reference to throw in the mix.

Father-in-Law: Here’s a bottle of whiskey I got for Thanksgiving.

Me, involuntarily: “What a thrill.”

FIL: What?

Me: Nothing.

Name a video game moment that wrecked you.

The original read of The Letter is absolutely unparalleled.

My favorite example is super basic, but I love how every single character reacts to surprises by exclaiming “This is!?” Every. Single. Time.

I’m assuming this is the result of some poor translator tasked with a spreadsheet full of “これは-?” sentence fragments with little to no context for any of it.

So I’m revisiting Legend of Dragoon (1999) as an adult with passing knowledge of both Japanese and PS1-era localization and reveling in how strangely this game got translated in places.

Today we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to our old cat, Sunny.

We knew that her health had been declining for months and did the best we could. But you’re never fully prepared for when that day finally comes.

Recently played: Onimusha Warlords (2001, 2019 remaster).

A fascinating -if not fully realized- through line between the survival horror of Resident Evil and the character action of Devil May Cry.

Still holds up, despite the criticisms I have of it.

Combat is a strictly 2D affair, with bandits jumping in from the periphery to attack you from either side.

Pretty fun, too! You slowly master an arsenal of movie samurai moves, including parries, dodge rolls, throwing knives, increasingly flashy swordplay, and good ol' fashioned footsies.

Also recently played: Trek to Yomi (2022).

Because I'm trying to get my samurai fix and am not ready to commit to a title as big as Ghosts of Tsushima yet.

Recently played: Endling: Extinction is Forever (2022).

I was initially drawn to this off the title art, which seemed reminiscent of Never Alone (2014). But rather than being a platformer rooted in indigenous folklore, Endling is a unique take on a survival game.

My phone still has an area code for a more competitive state, so today I’m getting deluged by AI campaign slop that’s so shitty I legitimately can’t tell if it’s a knockoff scam.

I don’t usually get to cook for company, but I’m very proud of this paella I made the last time I had people over!

Hope everyone is excited for this move to now be an aerial low.

I was awake for 24 hours and ran 21ish miles through the woods, but my first Ragnar event is in the books!
