One thing I've seen elsewhere that wasn't mentioned in article; COVID. There a certain amount of anger towards gov that they did not have High School experience of socializing in person. Just resentments towards what some may consider gov overreacting.

Wheat, soybeans, corn etc it literally could lead to food shortages. Look at what happened in citrus growing with Citrus Greening. Citrus basically gone in FL and working it's way through TX and California.

Retired now but often worked with ARS and University Researchers on crops. Most focus so far on human diseases. Reducing APHIS the Animal Plant Health Inspection Service this country very much at risk more diseases that could impact food production. If something comes in that affects
