Mann is right. Gates argues incredibly that climate change does not threaten civilization, just a few billion poor people living in already marginal conditions, certainly not those of us with the means to adapt. As if heat is the only consequence and a cascade of calamities has not already begun.

Since it’s increasingly obvious we aren’t going to stop this, why torture ourselves decrying what could and should have been done? No one else is. Knowing what’s coming, my plan is to prepare as best I can and to appreciate whatever serenity and beauty our rapidly degrading world can still offer.

Doomer here. TLDR. I'm convinced that only nature will sort this out. There are so many things we could do (but won't), and at some point we will have sufficiently degraded liveability of major swaths of the planet to the point where a sudden societal collapse and severe depopulation event occur.

I’ve seen some recent predictions of increasing frequency of El Niño / La Niña oscillations but would this bring increasing intensity as well?
