Pete Hegseth is in a very similar spot as Gaetz right now: if he pushes forward, the details of his sexual assault case become more available and prevalent, which will further decrease the already unlikely chances that he gets approved for the position heading the Department of Defense.

Matt Gaetz removing himself from consideration as a candidate to be the AG is an act of self-preservation. He knew that if he continued forward in the process that it ultimately lead to the full leak/release of the House ethics investigation and he would not politically survive that...

I will continue to say it again and again: at some point, when someone's words and actions continue to tell you who they are, isn't there some sort of an obligation to maybe believe them, or at the very least have it on your radar?

There is certainly much discussion to be had over so many of the Trump cabinet appointees, but the name that stands out above all is that of Matt Gaetz. This is a genuine trash human being. The real deal. There are no saving graces here. Supporting him is an unforgivable sin.
