As someone who has had 27 Mohs surgeries on my face and arms in the last 20 years, I think it has a lot to do with melanin. I worked outside for 40 years, so maybe I had more exposure

If ever you need historical info re asbestos in the railroad industry, a Texas law firm has been handling asbestos claims since the 1970s. My now deceased railroader father has been getting settlements in dribs and drabs since his retirement in 1988. Just last week, another check went to my mom

While there were black brakmen, only white brakemen got promoted to conductors. It was not until Railroad Trainmen v Howard at the SCOTUS in 1952 that overturned this practice

Unions were complicit about racism also. The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainment represented conductors, brakemen and porters. The BRT negotiated agreements that took work away from porters (black) and gave the work to brakemen.
