Instead I've met a lot of people who've been laid off or have lived terrified they one day will be.

I don't believe you. You're a faceless account on bsky that seems to only reply aggressively to anti-AI posts.

I've worked for Deloitte. I've worked for Shopify. I've worked for several colleges. I haven't met a single front-end engineer or designer or artist who is thrilled with AI.

It's beyond pathetic that this kind of apologism exists where they have to conflate algorithms as a whole... that is to say, ANYTHING THAT DOES MATH ON COMPUTER... as exactly the same thing as Midjourney.

Fuck right off. No they're not the same. You just don't understand what they are.

No, content-aware fill in Photoshop isn't the same thing as a stable-diffuse generator trained on millions of artists' work without their consent. It just looks at the hole in your jpeg, what's around the hole, and guesses at what goes in the hole.

I never imagined myself having to say this, but no, noise-filtering algorithms are NOT GenAI.

Still got it

Are we *sure* this isn't a Mega64 bit?

"I want to move people to the left! [...] I was one of the White Dudes for Harris."

That is true two-sentence horror right there.

Ughhh why did you have to remind me of that slime Grothe

I thought it was because they only move diagonally

"Easily Mike Flannigan's best work" is such a bold statement considering his repertoire... but... yeah it's true

So I feel it's more accurate to say you can enjoy art from a bad person. Their awfulness doesn't change that good experience you had with the work.

But it might change how you see it in the future
November 12, 2025 at 7:22 PM
I generally agree with the core concept of death of the artist, but I think there are different ways to view art, and one is as a lens through which we see the creator's vision.

And if you learn that creator is actually awful, it's hard to pretend a new colour to that work hasn't been revealed
November 12, 2025 at 7:20 PM
The good experience you had is still there, but I don't think the art is immutable. Art is the expression of the artist, and insight into the author CAN recontextualize the work.

For instance, Fables can be a great series, but once you learn the author's intent, the art is irrevocably changed
