Good evening, BlueSky. Here is my cat, also known as the reason we can’t have nice things.

Social justice: Books that give practical advice on how to deal with the fact that we live in an unfair and unjust world.

Eye-opening explorations into everyday things: Books that pull back the curtain on how we’ve been taking commonly used systems for granted without questioning the (usually) dirty secrets hidden beneath shiny exteriors.

Inspiration/motivation: Illustrated gift books, whether interactive or otherwise, from artists/authors with big platforms on Instagram or TikTok offering advice in an unconventional way.

Platform/experience led self-improvement: Books by people who have been through something and are offering advice based on experience, geared toward Millennials and Gen-Z who are perhaps skeptical of being talked down to by “credentialed experts.”
