In retrospect it's really fucking funny how they interrupt the plot to ape an episode of Rick and Morty almost wholesale, the only choice you get is to decide on either a beach episode or a bathhouse episode, and there being a hilariously cheap-feeling space shooter segment towards the end.

Stipending my thoughts on Season 2 to this one instead of it getting its own post in the thread. A good continuation to season 1, really like how the Evil Eye was pacified and semi-befriended rather than exorcised. Kinta was funny otaku who's socially inept haha ten gallon weiner.

Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
I don't feel like I got this one. It was funny and a visual delight, but some of the voice acting felt a bit too deadpan for the circumstances the characters were in. Maybe that's actually supposed to be normal and I'm the weird one? idk, it just didn't work well for me.

Finding Dory (2016)
I liked the theme of disability being a unique challenge to work with/around but outside of that it didn't really offer much. Marlon's B-plot was boring and grating + the climax was an irritating juggle of "she's in danger now she's not but he is now she is now they are now-"

The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
Actually saw this one about a month ago and forgot to note it. Ratigan was a fun villain, animation was superb, plot was a bit slow at times. Not a lot to say on this one.

Actually more that I just flip-flop around on if it's worth mentioning my thoughts on Disney movies since it kind of just gives the vibe of "sheltered manchild who only watches kids stuff."

the argument of "this movie wasn't necessary" is silly in retrospect since were any of the sequels really "necessary?" Was the first one even necessary? What is necessity in commercial media?
Anyway, movie good, probably not one of the all time best Pixar movies but it still fine.

Toy Story 4 (2019)
I always feel a bit self-conscious writing about Disney stuff on here so I only really mention the ones I haven't seen before. I was glued to the tv the whole time, it was overall a pleasant movie. Thought Forkie was going to be annoying but he was actually pretty compelling.

Jim Henson's Labyrinth (1986)
Very weird movie. Love the puppetry and music but some of the effects, particularly the green-screening, feel very noticeable. Plot felt all over the place at times, but wraps up nicely with a very sweet ending. Overall enjoyed it.

Late to this but I enjoyed reading this. It really lays out a lot of problems I've seen and experienced trying to crack it as an artist for the last decade+ online.

The Boy and the Heron (2023)
This feels like a film you need to think about for a while in order to really understand it. Lots of good lessons about moving on under layers of abstraction. I liked it but had trouble paying attention due to some "internal problems" so I may revisit this another time.
