Hehe. One of the problems with this design is that you might get vastly different performance characteristics depending on the cluster your bucket gets matched to. Noisy neighbors are even more of a pain. And the migration story for moving buckets between clusters (transparently) isn't great.

Their setup has a weird design, where iirc, every connection goes through a haproxy, which is running a lua script to auth you, and then uses your bucket name to forward your connection to the corresponding ceph cluster / rados gateway. The whole thing is backed by spinning rust.
