Amy was the only one capable to calm Nocturne, and with Tails's help, she made bracelets to contain his power.
Normally it was just until he grew up, but even as a teen he refused to take them off, scared of losing control

But with Amy's help, Sonic improved, until he was able to take care of Nocturne almost entirely on his own.

For Nocturne, Amy is like a aunt or a godmother. He really loved her and cried a lot when his father decide to leave Amy's house when he was five.

But Amy soon found him and forced Sonic to stay with her and his son, raising Nocturne together.

Sonic was really bad with the kid at first, not knowing how to calm him, feed him or wash him

Our angry hedgehog hasn't known Nocturne for years, and Sonic didn't know how to raise this child alone.
So he left him at Amy's door, knowing she was more capable than him of raising a child properly.
