Short answer is obviously ”both” but I think the long answer is that AI Tech Boosters and a lot of Tech Rich Guys in general have kinda just… lost the ability to formulate a theory of Death, let alone theories of mind or of the self. So they just try and outsource it to the Bullshit Machine.
