Later on, in a feature with a more defined layout, there’s still this detail on the top left; the pull quote transformed as an arc. Dig it.

2025 the size of a medium pizza box shouldn’t be possible anymore.

Columns with nice wraps, assets arranged to catch the eye enough to make you look back at the description.

Hey, what’s one more thing to carry, I thought. I asked the person at the desk how much. They said, “they’re free”. I said, “Shouldn’t be.” Azure is a good one.

I also love the fashion spread later on, which actually does something rare: puts clothes for men in order of head to toe. Look around at other layouts: they almost never do this.

Take this layout for a list of cocktails. We’ve got a tight two-column, four font sizes on one page, a drop-cap L for stature, and manually indented subheaders. Big white strokes on all the images, as if paste-boarded. Human. Lovely.

Even in the case where there are columns, the artist plays with the perception. Column, left-side of a book, right-side, column. Fun.

Of course, I’m blown away by the spread of the apartment that’s framed as a blueprint for the same apartment.

You really feel the joy coming off the photoshoots. It’s infectious and bright. I love how the spreads play across lines. Nothing so serious and columnized here. We’re having a good time.

Unwrap the whole thing and you even get three paint-by-pixel games, something you can easily replicate in the journal itself (designed with graph paper lines).

The first page cuts off Love at the e. I’m a bit of a sucker for this trick (👋 Zune). Hand-drawn-style art with a cute lil robot. It encourages play, optimism, and imperfection.

This sounds so similar to how rental VHS tapes used to work.

I tried saying my latest blog post into a camera. The amount of takes it took to get it even *okay* is one thing. Then, theres editing, adding media, etc. It's like the whole day.
