But Das Boot, We Were Soldiers, The Thin Red Line... these movies make you feel something, even if it is uncomfortable.

Saving private Ryan, Enemy at the Gates, Schindler's list... all of these films tell great stories.

Definitely not a narrative driven film. More like a slice of life. But the best war movies are like this. They don't tell you a story, they make you feel the anxieties of war (as best as you can from the safety of a cozy chair.)
