I 100% agree. The media should have done better on Project 2025. But, I'm not sure that coverage would have gotten through to enough voters. What would have gotten through? Maybe more debates. People seem to pay attention to those which is why he wouldn't do them.

His bigotry and misogyny were the same in 2016 as 2024. So, assuming policy in 2025 would be similar to 2017 was not unreasonable. The policy that Jamelle highlights is much more aggressive though. People highly engaged in politics and policy anticipated more aggression. The average voter didn't.

Over the last eight years no single person has had more power to stop this train wreck than Mitch McConnell. Even now he did not do anything meaningful to actually try to stop the nominations that he voted against. He does not deserve to have articles like this written about him.
