No surprise humans want the shiny thing instead of doing boring, useful work: “With Colossal’s budget, [we] could tackle the real threats to the survival of elephants: human-elephant conflict, loss of habitat and connectivity, poaching, and the spread of invasive plants unpalatable to elephants.”
Editorial: Mammoth de-extinction is bad conservation
Ecosystems are inconveniently complex, and elephants won’t make good surrogates.

Journalism certainly seems to be getting more cowardly.
I am begging journalists to write that protestors are being hit by drivers and not trucks or cars. It's something I yell about all the time, but now, more than ever, we need media outlets to assign agency to the drivers attacking protestors. These are right-wing terrorists trying to silence dissent.

People are sick of Democrats because with us, nothing is ever pure or easy. If one person takes offense, we’ll stop working on a policy or message that will help five people to avoid the offense. We are constantly playing the trolley problem—and losing.

TIL I might be a coward: there was roadwork and a lane was closed. Traffic, predictably, merged before it needed or was “supposed” to. Rather than follow suit, I kept going to the cones and did the “zipper” merge the Internet says is better for everyone. The heart palpitations, tho’! Yikes!
