Steve, I do not feel comfortable saying if any of the mushrooms in my photos are edible (even if I know they are) because of how easily mushrooms can be misidentified or picked at the wrong time. All it takes is being wrong once for a tragedy to occur. Also, please be wary of “so called experts”.

Ayukîi Agrwm, meaning no disrespect 🙂, but my ancestors were experts on land care (see link below). Look for Pikyav as that means "fix it". I do appreciate the link to the CNPS book, and I will read it, but my ancestral roots guide me on how to care for the land.

Cloudygrayfox, thanks, and I have been leaving brush while keeping some distance between the brush to not create a fire hazard. The quail also have multiple areas to dry clean themselves, plus I put in a 1-meter diameter wet bird bath. Mother Squirrel thinks the large bird bath is hers though!

Marina, thanks for your comment and I am probably the only landowner here that doesn’t have a dog, so the deer pretty much have the field to themselves. Also, the little ones seem to want to play and will come up to me, but I do not want them to get used to man. I guess one kid recognizes another!
