A2: The implication that addressing who kids are (their identities, needs, and emotions) has somehow become a root cause of issues in education. Can this swing too far? Sure. But, it's tough to teach a kid without acknowledging that they're a human and not a receptacle for our wisdom. #aplitchat

Just to expand on the idea of teacher laziness, I think it's also disappointing that the author failed to mention how difficult it is to hire fully certified teachers. Those new teachers who haven't completed any practicum have no choice but to use canned curriculum. It's survival. #aplitchat

A1: I think the conversation around the article is valuable - IF it can also lead to potential solutions. Bemoaning the downfall of education without recognizing the positive changes in our profession or offering solutions does little more than yell at clouds. #aplitchat
