The harm here isn’t just environmental. Anxiety, daily disruptions, and long-term health fears show pollution also sparks a social and psychological crisis.

These measures, if delivered properly, could finally limit fires and stabilise the land.

But legal accountability must continue until residents see lasting safety, not just promises.

Following the ruling, Havering Council now seems to be taking positive steps, considering both a long-term engineered cap and a faster polymer “hydro-mulching” layer to curb toxic smoke.
