2011 WI Act 10

Took the LSAT four months later.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Lots of talk about the downgrade of "professional" degrees. Not enough about how $200k isn't enough for most of the programs that are left. At UW-Madison, you could do law for under $200k (if you are a WI resident) but not med/vet/pharm.

How dare the poors try to do anything at all, I guess.

I am irrationally irritated by the fact that the city of Green Bay has its Christmas lights already out. It is not even Thanksgiving.

Will have been in this job 6 years this week. Going to a conference; best part will be maybe I'll get to grab dinner with my parents.

Everything has been real hard this year. It's hard to celebrate it, much as I would like to.

Had a meeting today in which an old retired attorney got chippy with me...and the head of a state board, who is a woman in her 40s and therefore cannot be trusted to know anything even though she's been confirmed by the state senate and has been in her position for a number of years. 1/

Well-intentioned person sends me a heads up legislative action alert, not knowing I wrote half of it

It's that kind of day I guess

My personal top tech tip: BCC is your friend.

I do love a good Midwestern Nice "yeah I sure did CC your boss," don't get me wrong, but I sure didn't need to be getting the reply-alls on this particular 100+ person meeting invite.

Istg I would like to go one day without the WI legislature trying to make my job harder

Today has been one of those days where I just have to put my head down and keep reminding myself that I can apply for PSLF in a month

Super love when people take up my time with questions they should be asking their lawyer because they don't want to pay for their lawyer's time, and then get mad when I tell them they need to ask their lawyer

I'm currently in a town so small it doesn't have a Culver's, and in Wisconsin, that says something.

My dad is a 77-year-old autistic man. Diagnosed ~3 years ago.

This is just ridiculous.
RFK Jr: I've never seen a case of full-blown autism in a 70-year-old man. You're only seeing it in the kids. It's an epidemic.

Precious baby intern has not had con law yet and I can't decide whether that's good or bad, under the circumstances.

This is a conversation I have with myself every day.

The state law stuff I deal with doesn't stop just because nationally everything is a mess.
/9 By the way - we should also fight the inclination to abandon the rule of law because bad people are cynically abusing it. First, while bad things happen on a national scale, every day on a micro scale advocates use the rule of law to fight injustice and improve lives.

/4 SCOTUS has lost the presumption of regularity -- the mandate of the legal heavens -- through its shadow docket actions, which by invoking SCOTUS' equitable discretionary powers have obliterated the pretext that SCOTUS is merely calling balls and strikes, merely calling lines where they see them.

Like Pritzker would stoop to Doninos when Giordanos exists

Come on now.
Ted Cruz: "I don't want to get between JB Pritzker and the Dominos Pizza line, but I'll tell you what I am willing to get between -- him and his open doors for every human trafficker ... "
