not exactly, something much simpler actually! 😅
In geometry nodes you can set an image as an input, which makes possible to reuse any node groups you make with any image you want, without having to deep dive in the node trees to just change a texture

I hate the fact that #blender doesn't let you set textures as parameters in shaders like in geonodes 😭
I keep having to do hacky things like this to make a texture selector, like making a node group with all the textures I will ever use in it
Does anybody know a better way to do this? 💚

After that, I enabled the PostProcessInput6 in MaterialTemplate.ush so I can use it as a debug. I have no idea how to debug the engine, so if anyone have tips I would love it!

WELL, here we go then. From the beginning.
After changing a gigantic list of files and boilerplate code, I created two new test pins for the materials (first image of the thread) they are available for all shading models since I am not messing with adding new shading models for now

From studying the code, everything seems to revolve around the struct FGBufferData and written to these GBuffer Targets.
Even though Custom Data can easily be repurposed, It's not my intent.

I think it is a good approach, but I just don't have the necessary data available for me to work with in the current GBuffer, and even if I directly changed the shading models instead of using PP, I would still not have it. Which led me to:

The most common way to have more control over these aspects, is using post process materials. But it also has a HUGE drawback, you have no per-material control. You have to change the entire screen at once, or use stencil (per object, lame), or shading model ID, or do magic with the little you have
