i feel your pain about the fitbit buyout, but i feel it's misrepresentative to act like it was an easy or selfish decision for eric to make - the writing had been on the wall for Pebble for quite some time, and the company sold for just enough to pay its debts

pebbles and pebble-like watches use transflective memory-in-pixel LCD displays, which work more conventionally than an electrophoretic display you'd see on an e-reader, but with the added benefit of very low power consumption to hold a still image. review-displays.co.uk/mip-displays...
