John Lounsbery did some scenes of Merlin, I was John’s assistant at the time. So it was my responsibility to inbetween or breakdown the action of Merlin. He was an extremely fun character to draw. Particularly the mustache and beard. - Don

When creating a character, the element most essential is exaggeration. If it is an animal, I always begin with a realistic drawing of the animal and then my imagination takes over. The drawing begins to morph into something reliably comedic, dramatic, lovable or sinister. - Don

This picture is misleading, it appears that I’m a professional motorcycle driver. However the truth is, the last time I rode a motorcycle I crashed it my front yard. The picture you see was my wishful thinking that I am a great cyclist. That is very cartoon thinking. - Don
