Probably already a tired iteration of an old trope but was laughing to myself today while seeing my vaguely contemporary corporate chic against my pinned up Victorian hair 😆

Picked this up for $30. Someone's Grandma's machine that'd been stored in a shed. In a catalogue I found online these went for £28 in the 40's - which adjusted for inflation and converted to Australian is something like $3,500 (or more accounting for wage equivalence). Blows my mind.

Like I'm raising 2 daughters in a hyperdigital world and needing to be aware of how digital influence can affect perceptions and behaviour and it gets wild how badly removed from context folk can be - not to mention the deliberate misinformation and "influencer" cultures

Generally I am often dismayed at the state of what social media is doing to young minds and how people seem less able to parse and contextualise what content they consume.

YES, a less neurodiverse brain can interpret more complex social signals, such as when word meaning is augmented by body language. But NO, that doesn't mean "neurotypicals always speak in hidden codes". It CAN BE an American mannerism thing to avoid direct verbal requests and rely on cultural cues.
