Even if precipitation is all snow, would we expect accumulations? Current ground temperatures around the OKC metro are above freezing, so snow accumulations if any would likely be on elevated and cold surfaces only unless rates are heavy enough, which seems unlikely at the moment. #okwx

The ~800mb warm nose is projected to become a battleground over south central Oklahoma, with small movements north or south having impacts on what precip. type is seen. As the morning goes on, this warm nose will cool so that most of the lower atmosphere will be below freezing. #okwx

Forecast soundings over north Cleveland County for tomorrow morning have some spread in low-level moisture, with the RDPS and HRRR containing more moisture and generally trending up as well. The DGZ does look well saturated in all three mesoscale models with lift in the region. #okwx

A light freezing rain event overnight has led to a slight glaze on vehicles this morning in the south part of Norman, OK. Ice accumulations seem to only be on cars and elevated surfaces, but be extra careful driving this morning! #okwx

Such a strong and terrifying event going on across Oklahoma this afternoon. Never thought that I would be experiencing weather like this. Truly awe inspiring what strong synoptic cyclones can do. #okwx

It seems like Norman,OK is about to get a little dusty in the next hour or so coincident with the beginning of the strong winds. Extremely high fire danger today, stay safe! #okwx

Unfortunately seeing multiple wildfires growing on Long Island today with temps in the 40s and dew points in the teens F. Hopefully these fires get controlled relatively soon. It’s been a few years since there’s been brush fires so the pine barrens could be ripe with fuel. #nywx

There’s just something about cold core convection! 😍☁️

I just realized I captured a CG lightning bolt in my first video as the thundersleet was moving in! This was looking due west from south Norman. Anyone have any idea if this is common to see or not? #okwx @stephanieway.bsky.social @frqltg.bsky.social

More videos since I cannot seem to put them all together! 😍🧊⚡️

Who would have thought that the first time I’ve ever seen thunder sleet would be in Norman, OK! Especially heavy sleet, probably mixed with some hail as well. Very frequent lightning flashes with it and now a coating of sleet with a glaze of ice everywhere. #okwx

How much frontogenesis do you want in the Plains today? Because there is quiteeeeee a lot! #okwx

This may just be my most favorite thing I have produced in my research and coding so far. The ability to pick any of my "favorable lake-effect event" times and just loop the modeled reflectivity for that event! 🤩

What a satellite image this morning as the sun rises on a snow-covered Central U.S. including a nearly all snow-covered Oklahoma! Don't see a loop like this very often. Check out all the lakes and rivers that can be easily seen as well! #okwx

Moderate snow currently underneath a healthy band across Central Oklahoma. Already accumulating decently on both the grass and roads here in Norman! #okwx

If you’re curious to know how lake-effect snow might change in a warming climate, or why we are seeing the trends in lake-effect that we are currently seeing, come to my talk at #AMS2025 next Monday! This work is part of my masters thesis and I am excited to share it!

Taking a ride up the Hudson and seeing some cool weather on display! The warm and moist air coming up from the south moving over the colder river waters from the past week. Leading to localized fog only a few 10s of feet off the surface! #nywx

About 0.8” of snow here in Bellport, NY from the backside of the system! Snow total may be just slightly above an inch as some compacting has likely occurred. Not much but will definitely take it! #nywx

Interesting expansion of the precipitation along the coast with some ocean effect enhancement possibly going on as well. Some areas already reporting snow or a rain/snow mix! Today definitely seems like a nowcasting kind of day. #nywx

Neat little mesolow over Lake Ontario this afternoon as any remaining "lake-effect" clouds move off to the northwest of the lake under a pretty strong high pressure over the Northeast. Don't see one of these too often on this lake! #nywx #winter

Quite the potent clipper system moving through the Northeast right now! Numerous snow squalls creating walls of falling snow and many pretty electrified as well. Even some surprises down by the coast with a burst of snow over parts of Long Island in the early morning! #nywx

First snow of the season in Bellport, NY with some graupel from a quick shower that moved through not too long ago! As per usual this happens the day after I leave to go back to Oklahoma. #nywx
