Painting and sketching about this time, this place
I was sketching in the Sierra Valley this afternoon and saw a train with dozens of armored security vehicles headed west from Nevada. Wikipedia tells me these are used for internal security operations and I’m fearful that they will be used against the people of California.

Protest outside the Tesla dealership on Van Ness in San Francisco, April 12. It was a lively and energetic crowd.

To escape from politics for a little bit, here's a sketch from the windy parking lot on Bodega Head.

This one just used gray and black Posca markers, with watercolor carrying most of the painting. Still trying to figure out where those acrylic marker lines fit into my style.

Another sketch from the "Hands Off" protest today. Looking at it now, I'm a little disturbed by that dark figure in the foreground. Even though it was a beautiful sunny day full of energetically protesting people, that sense of hulking menace is always at the edge of my mind these days.

he April 5 Hands Off protest filled San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza today. There were so many great signs, but I think the blurry "NO" was my favorite. (Just NO-O-O-O-O-O! is how I feel most of the time these days.)

A drawing from my day sketching with @ninaapplepine.bsky.social and @suhitasketch.bsky.social Suhita Shirodkar. This graceful tree/shrub was in the beautiful Gamble Garden in Palo Alto. I could have happily sketched there all day but had to leave before rush hour trapped me on the freeway home.

I went to the demonstrations on Wednesday in front of my Senators' San Francisco offices, asking them to hold the line against the worst of the craziness happening in Washington. Thank you Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla for stepping up to the fight. Thank you Indivisible SF for organizing.
