It's Knowvember or Nonfiction November and, we've been encouraging students to read nonfiction. A student read "Make Your Own Marshmallow Catapult" by Mari Bolte from Capstone publishing. They brought the catapult in to share their hardworking.

5th grade recently completed a reading genre personality quiz. We took time to dive in the catalog and searched for books to read. Students created a to read list for future library visits. Our students are more confident using the library catalog too!

I'm beyond grateful! My 100th project was funded from DonorsChoose.

Big week for the library. 4th & 5th are having a previously recorded author visit from Lauren Tarshis courtesy of Mackin. I won a social media contest. I have copies of her newest book I Survived the Dust Bowl coming for my students.

Our students are too sweet. A student made bookmarks for our library. They brought 2 batches this week.

First grade is having an author visit from a previous recording we made with authors Mrs. and Mr. Macleod. We love the fun illustrations and creative storytelling.

Wake up to a good breakfast!! My student brought me sugar donut balls. They made them at home this morning!! They used a library cookbook for the recipe. Loving g it ❤️ They taste amazing. I am reserving a table for 2 because this student will be an amazing chef.

A librarian never stops - I meet Booker today at a vendor fair. Booker brings our students books for summer reading for rising grades 1 - 3 courtesy of Governor's Early Literacy Foundation.

New nonfiction signs!! Here are the before and after pictures of the first 3 sections. Look at how tiny the shelf sign was, and it was hidden by books extending past the shelf.

My 4th and 5th grade are currently having a J vs K showdown. Students are reading excerpts from both Jerry Craft and Kwame Alexander to vote for their favorite. It's a close race so far. After, 2 days of voting, Craft has a slight edge. Which do you prefer: author or illustrator?

K, 1, and 2 are celebrating Read Across America week by looking to our friends a bit North- a Canadian author-illustrator Melanie Watt. We are enjoying a virtual author visit through @bookbreak4schools Every single Watt book is now checked out.
