Avid reader who may not post much. Parent. Single-issue voter since 2016.
It could plausibly be read that way but could plausibly be read the way she explained it when testifying. You can just guess the racism that was being directed her way by MAGA; she was justified in her belief, if not in her speech, which was emotionally reactive & not a great idea in the context.

She would have had no way of guessing that Ds would come up with this nonsense theory or that a judge would take it halfway seriously.

There was another reason for the disqualification hearing: a speech she gave in church about the racism in the attacks on her, which Ds said was about them.

She broke no law or regulation. She didn't do anything morally wrong imo. (He wasn't a subordinate, by the way; he was an independent contractor, and she wasn't able to find anyone else to do the low paid, dangerous work; she tried. The case needed him rather than the one way around.)

... Trump got the benefit of that even though he was the big fish target and obviously had to be charged, and charged big. This theory of harm to Ds was an absurd claim, just on its logic. (And she has a successful history of bringing huge sweeping RICO cases.)
December 6, 2025 at 10:24 PM
@tclark36.bsky.social It didn't hurt the Ds at all. One of the Ds *argued* that she brought in more Ds etc to give Wade more (low paid, *incredibly* dangerous, thanks to MAGA) work so that he could then take her to dinners and such. And then ...

Thank you @oliviaoftroye.com Wonderfully informative and thoughtful post. "Stephen Miller wrote '... descendants [of migrants] recreate the 'conditions and terrors' of their homelands." I don't agree with Stephen Miller but do note he ignores that he is the descendant of relatively recent migrants.

My AI told me this a month ago, and I kept wondering why no one was mentioning the statute. It gives the prosecution MORE time than they actually had to re-indict - that is, it doesn't give the prosecution 1 business day, which is where Halligan was when she got the indictment the first time.

1937 when Lochner was effectively overruled. Or 1942 with Wickard v. Filburn.

When we grew closer to the finish location for our march, we began to hear the church bells. They'd been ringing them, I assume, since the first marchers flowed past, and it was a lovely surprise and felt so ... right. I just sent off an email to the church to thank them.

I am not AnTEEfuh, I am frightened of violence even in self-defense, and black isn't my color, but if they're willing to pay me well for the No Kings protests I've been attending to oppose King You-Know-Who, I might be willing to wear a very small club button. Whom do I contact re the money aspect?

@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social, what's with this ageism? Plenty of folks in their 60s & 70s, even 80s, at the April & June No Kings rallies. Even Stephen Miller has noticed: bsky.app/profile/pbsn.... Maybe the elders can save the country both from and for the young. Or let's just ALL say NO KINGS!
“So we’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over 90 years old,” he added. “And we’re going to get back to the business of protecting the American people."

@beecherbibles56.bsky.social is right. "Stochastic terrorism" exists and its risks are much higher with intentional use of it in Trump era, within the bot-heavy social media context. Choice of the word "terrorism" is intentional because it invites the idea that it *should* somehow be banned.

This was incredibly important because Trump people were pushing VERY hard, telling the GA Assembly that Kemp and Duncan could call them into session so that they could override the vote, as well as testifying in the Assembly that they could call themselves into session for that.
September 23, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Per Wikipedia on Duncan: On 12/6/20 "Duncan and ... Kemp put out a joint statement explaining that calling a joint session of the Georgia General Assembly to appoint their own electors to send to the United States Electoral College would be unconstitutional." See article for links.

That's fair. I was curious because abortion choice is important to me. But in the end, I'm a 1-issue voter -protecting "democracy", the structure on which all policies depend - so I'd sacrifice any policy to vote for whoever is the pro-democracy candidate most likely to win ... if I could tell!

But consider this: her mortgage agreement forms were probably spotless.

I asked my AI if a fee of $100k would give the payor a property/liberty interest so that if they retroactively change rules (who qualifies, whether you have to pay $100k just one time or every week etc) it might create some constitutional problem. AI says no. Leavitt today/Lutnick tomorrow.

I'm going to cook it in the microwave. Your cell is ringing.

Yes. No.

It's so important that a pro-democracy candidate (so, a Dem) become GA's governor in 2026 - the person who certifies GA's election in 2028. Kemp, Raffensperger, and Duncan held the line in 2020. Electability is key ... if you want to keep voting in the future. (Duncan now supports abortion too.)
