My Original art quilt depicting a man with a white beard and bark like face mask with antlers playing a flute while a small orange and white bird sings along. The Duet In the heart of the Everdeep Forest of Portugal, where light trickled through the trees like forgotten dreams, lived a creature known only in legend: the Forest Man. He was not quite man, not quite beast—his skin was pale, he wore a mask of bark and berries, the antlers of a stag protruded from his head and his eyes were blue pools reflecting starlight. The trees whispered that he had once been a boy lost in the woods, who listened so carefully to the forest that it took him in and gave him roots, and only the trees remembered that his given name was Silas. Each morning the Forest Man, as everyone called him, emerged from his hollow beneath the elder yew and played a flute carved from greenwood. Its sound was pure, like the first breath of spring. And without fail, a small bird answered him—a tiny, orange breasted, robin named Miri. She was no ordinary bird. Her feathers shimmered with a sheen of morning dew, and her notes rang like glass bells. Where Silas’s music was low and sorrowful, Miri’s was bright and wild. Together, they played duets that made the ferns quiver and the river pause in its flowing. Foxes sat still to listen. Leaves danced in time. Their music had power. When a storm broke the spine of an old oak, they played until it healed. When a bear fell into a hunter’s trap, they played until the iron rusted and the bear limped free. Their songs stitched the forest together, note by note. Their music was a gift to the forest, a conversation with the wild heart of Portugal. Now, if you enter Everdeep Forest at the edge of morning, you might hear them: a flute and a bird, weaving music through the mist. A duet that keeps the wild alive. My original art quilt "The Christmas Blossom" of a red poinsettia flower against a deep purple background. Whole cloth. I started with white fabric the image was created with colored pencils, sealed into the fabric then layered with batting and backing and quilted using a sit down sewing machine.

One fish is gold, one white with red markings, and the third is white with gold, black, and red markings. The lily pads are green circles with swirls or teardrop shapes coming off them. The fish and lily pads are made of tyvek material that has been painted. Metallic silver thread has been used to quilt the lily pads in a spiral design. The fish are quilted using a clamshell design to indicate scales. Echo stitching was used in the background.
