Hello new followers! For those that may not know me yet, my name is Lauren, I currently work as a forensic genetic genealogist in Canada🍁
Lots of my posts will be genetic genealogy related (though I have lots of other interests too! ). I also love cat reaction pics so expect to see some of those...
Now that it’s affecting Americans almost three months later, maybe something will actually change 💀
I am using social media less and less these days, but lately am very concerned about the future of IGG due to Ancestry’s new terms and conditions. Not seeing a lot of chatter online about it. Am I not in the right groups? Not online enough? Any help would be appreciated..

Everyone’s talking about the ancestry ethnicity estimate update but that has always been the least part of Ancestry for me. I’m all about matches and tree building. And encouraging people to upload their results to Gedmatch and FamilyTreeDNA!!

Anyone have any ideas when the next FTDNA autosomal unlock sale or freebie might be? 🤓

Saskatoon’s century old Woman in the Well Jane Doe is now SOLVED! Thanks to investigative genealogy, Alice Spence nee Burke (b 1881!) now has her name back.

Honored to have been a part of the IGG team for this case. It’s now the oldest case in 🇨🇦 solved with IGG.

Talked to a gentleman today at a genealogical society event, and he was 102!! 🥹 turning 103 in two weeks!! So awesome. Definitely the oldest person I have personally met

Okay I rarely cry much these days (last time being March) but the third episode of the Naming the Dead did it. The moment where the brothers met 🥲😢

Going to a province I haven’t been to yet for my birthday in a few weeks. Well technically it’s a work related trip but it’ll be on my birthday. Any guesses which one? 🤓

I’m on a working vacation this week and a podcast I was on months ago reshared the episode I’m in and as a result dozens of people are contacting me for help with their searches and I am feeling a LITTLE overwhelmed

Today was a very big day for our IGG team. Excited for when the solve is announced 🤭🇨🇦🌾

I’m gonna say it…. Ancestry’s cluster tool is largely useless and unhelpful currently

Anyone else not receiving new FTDNA matches for either IGG or personal accounts since June 17? What’s going on?

Six flights in three weeks is great exposure therapy

Just solved an unknown parentage case, was quite a tricky one- the bio dad had an NPE, and bio dad’s mom also had an NPE… 😳

#StarInvestigation: In the eight months since an Ontario teen died after being warehoused in budget motels while waiting for mental health treatment, the child welfare agency responsible for her care has housed another nine kids in hotels.
Since Jade’s death while under the care of Children’s Aid, the agency has housed another nine kids in hotels
The Children’s Aid Society of London & Middlesex said it still relies on hotels because it has no other options, the result of “chronic underfunding."

Found part of a headstone on a road today not anywhere near a cemetery 🤨

Kind of wish 23andMe would shut down so all the misinformation would stop and people can start doing dna tests with companies where the sites and tools are actually useful

There are few things I hate more than people who walk their dog unleashed in a cemetery 😤

One of the more unique places I’ve worked on an IGG case (feebly adding to a tree via my phone’s browser while I wait for a grad ceremony to start)

Time for my first of 8 flights in the next 50 days 🤓 feeling like one of those people on Instagram that just travel all the time
