Author of fiction + CNF. My banner is the view from Herman Melville’s porch. He thought the mountain looked like a whale. Eventually, we got Moby Dick. The muse is anywhere, if we let it be.

Attended + was inspired by several panels at this weekend's Brattleboro Literary Festival, including a few inside The Stone Church, a venue in what was (obviously) once a church. I wish we could pack in here every Sunday to talk about literature and the art of creating with words. Writer church.

Tonight I had the privilege of seeing Ocean Vuong read and speak in Northampton, MA. Afterward, it was raining but the sky also glowed with sunset (picture below). I drove home on a series of winding mountain roads that, because of the rain, had frogs hopping all over them. 10/10 New England night.

My very elderly dog, defined for 15 years by her snaggle tooth, lost her signature look when said tooth fell out tonight. She is still so weird looking though, which is exciting. At her first vet visit after we adopted her, the doc laughed mid-exam because our dog reminded her so much of Falcor.

If you’re in Glover, VT: The Museum of Everyday Life is a must. I went yesterday for the second time. A grounding joyful experience.

Instead of all the rest of the stuff on your feed, here is a young deer I encountered in a meadow tonight, who peacefully ate despite knowing I was nearby.

Going to NYC next week, which means I'll leave Vermont thinking I'm very dressed up and fabulous, only to realize, within minutes of disembarking my train, I am Inauguration Bernie.
