Today I called my congressional reps to say I don’t support the budget reconciliation bill. I know they don’t either; they still need to hear it.

I called Hakeem Jeffries to ask him to elevate Rep. Jasmine Crockett to ranking member—House Oversight Committee.

It’s not much. But it’s not nothing.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: if you are the parent or caregiver of a child with a disability, be sure you know the evacuation plan for your child at school. Is it a good plan?

Today I called Representative Angie Craig’s office to make sure she knows that I am opposed to the MAGA budget bill.

I just called my senators and representatives to make sure they know that I am outraged at what is happening.

You can do the same: (202)224-3121 is the number for the capitol switch board.

Last week, I had the honor of kicking off WIDA’s first ever Accessibility Summit, a series of meetings to take a deeper dive into accessibility. This week, I am looking forward to part two, focused on universal design, as it applies to our assessments.

I am always surprised to find out how hard it is to get a hotel room close to the elevator. I don’t know anyone other than myself who likes the thought of being close to the elevator, but it’s always a struggle to make it happen.

Accessibility should not be so difficult to make happen!

Something I learned recently is that ice is not a liquid when going through TSA. I mean, on the one hand, that’s obvious, but it was a bit of a surprise.

As much as I love ice, I very much appreciate this!

I am headed to Milwaukee for a week of meetings and conferences, and this will be my first time using a mobility scooter to help me navigate the conference venue. I am nervous and excited to see how it goes!

I am not a fan of acronyms. They might save some space when writing, but often they are just exclusionary and unnecessary.

October is Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Month. Schools around the United States will be having fire drills. If you are a parent of a child with a disability, I encourage you to make sure you and your child understand (and agree with) the safety plan for your child.

As I sit and wait for wheelchair assistance at DCA, I can’t help but note that MSP really has it figured out.

MSP has an accessibility assistance desk at the check in area, and they meet passengers there with a wheelchair attendant.

None of this waiting and wondering.
