I wrote my debut novel while working full time. It took me 10 years, but I don't regret any of the time I spent drafting and revising.

Happy belated Spring Equinox/Ostara! 🌱🪻Yesterday, I spent some time journaling in my Mushroom School Workbook from Corporeal Writing. I will forever shout Corporeal Writing’s praises to anyone looking for a creative writing and arts community.

Hands down, one of my favorite interviews I’ve worked on to date. I had so much fun chatting with Lauren Parker (@laurenparker.bsky.social) about her new poetry collection, Dark Way Down—a speculative continuation of David Bowie’s 1976 album, Station to Station.

Instead of setting new year’s resolutions, many people I know (especially authors I follow) have a practice of choosing a word for the year and letting that word be their guide. I’ve decided to try it out this year and have settled on the word “observe” for 2025.

I was pretty much comatose from food poisoning all day on Tue (never again will I order takeout from a restaurant that’s about to close) and couldn’t go to work or leave the apartment. BUT I finished a book that’s been on my TBR pile for ages: The Wolf Den by Elodie Harper.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with ecopoetics about a harpy guarding the mouth of the Florida Aquifer. Very fun to see an excerpt in zine form, thanks to the curators of “Just Chugged Four Beers,” a new reading series and open-mic night hosted at Ingleside’s premier tavern, Ocean Ale House.

In 2024, I lost my dad to cancer in the same month that I got a book deal for the novel I’d spent over ten years writing.

I love this photo; I'm laughing but maybe I look like I'm crying and raging at the same time. Joy. Grief. Rage. All the emotions. I hope 2025 is a gentle year for all of us. 🕯️✨
