It's a long story, but I haven't had a formal .com website for 2 years. It seems kind of necessary for artists to have an online portfolio, especially since I'm trying really hard not to use Meta. My old domain was actually available but I've moved on.

LmForgie.com coming soon. 🤩

The glaze ran on the large jar, fuzeing the lid shut. It exploded while cooling but not in a violent way. I think I'll put it back together with gold epoxy. It won't be functional so it might get put in the garden. 🤷🏼

Otherwise some nice pieces came out - incense burners, candle sticks, and chains!

Yes!!! It was a beautiful day today with a high of 62°F and low wind. I'm happy I was able to get my raku firing done. I put the propane tank in warm water so it didn't freeze. 😆

Mood.

Looks like we had our first hard frost this morning. It was a good season! I wish there were more tomatoes though.

Heh heh heh...
A new kiln showed up in my garage today. 😎

It's not perfect, but it's done!

Today I'm finally starting the "patio" for my Raku kiln. I've already been to Menard's and hauled in 400lbs of sand and pea gravel. It's going to be cute AF tho.

Yesterday I expanded the flower and strawberry bed in the back another four feet outwards. I need more berries!

Finally unloaded the bisque kiln the other day. The timing is pretty good considering the new kiln should be arriving in the next day or two. 🤩😱

A packed bisque load is firing in the ol' Duncan today. 👍🔥

I've been doing drawings from screenshots of the genocide in Palestine off and on for the past two years. Here's this week's sketch.

My cobalt cake stand was accepted into this show at the Belger in Kansas City, and they used it in their promo image! 🤩😱

If you're in the area please visit in October and send me photos.

Workbench scenes. I don't really know what the point of this is yet. In a pretty messed up rollercoaster headspace. I've got a length of maybe six feet that I hope to fit into my next Raku firing. Attaching chains to pots isn't the most original but it does seem like a direction this could go. #clay

Made five pints of salsa verde today. The tomatillos came in like crazy this year! I even gave some away. The squirrels took plenty as well. Made a couple pints of pickled carrots from my tiny carrots too.

Okra has also done really well this summer. We seasoned this bowl full and roasted them.

It's been tough returning to the grind this week. I'd like to share more about the experience. It was surreal in an uplifting and fantastic sort of way (I didn't even take shrooms!). Anyway, I think I might start posting on Substack soon, if I can find the time.

I had the opportunity last week to attend a MdW gathering at Itasca State Park, MN. We stayed at the college research station & were able to canoe & bike. There were workshops & beautiful hikes. Woodland Pottery from the White Earth Reservation did a wood-firing with their naturally harvested clay.

Skeeter crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. I always did the best I could for him, but I wish I could have been better. This dog definitely helped get me through my twenties. He truly was the goodest boy.

I spent the past few weeks painting two bedrooms and a bathroom at our house because I plan on refinishing the hardwood floors soon.

Found some time to throw a few bowls today. Trying a new shape. Round bellies are out, straight sides are in.

Monday my partner & I took a quick trip to the cities where we picked up 300lbs of my favorite clay (cheaper than shipping, I think). I finally put the order in for my kiln & put down a deposit. We also stopped by a fabric warehouse, an antique store/cafe called The Clapping Monkey & Dick Blick.
