In some ways it's better than the reddit version, where they just go and downvote all of your comments in that thread.

If they just block you, it's kind of a blessing: "thanks, I never want to see your posts either"

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I can't believe the included one went with that ugly font. 🤦

FWIW, the name on unicode.org/emoji/charts... is "oncoming fist", but it wouldn't be the first time their names don't line-up with reality.

For example, 😑 is not an "expressionless face". It's the expression to end all expressions: the "I'm done" face.

One of my kids was telling me he keeps forgetting what grade he's in (because the new school year just started) and I said "wait until you get to my age and have to recalculate your age every time".

He was horrified.

A helpful mnemonic: "read" rhymes with "lead".

This is the way all Lisps work.

I don't know about this specific language, but one of the advantages to this is that it makes building a powerful macro system much easier. It definitely takes some getting used to, though.

Hmmm... Need to meditate on this a bit.

I was thinking this too, but then again, doesn't it also work on Android, which doesn't use the JVM?

openai-java-bytecode is kind of long-winded. 😅

Convincingly delivering information (independent of accuracy) is pretty much what LLMs do.

They can be useful when distinguishing between a correct and incorrect solution is much easier than finding a correct solution. However, if you are unable to distinguish, using an LLM leads to madness.

I think there's definitely a lot more nuance required than can fit in a single sentence.

I am absolutely not against using automation as a tool, but I think I am far less likely to be interested in a creation if the only human effort that went into it was creating a prompt.

Android has lots of bugs in older APIs that never seem to get fixed.

Take a look at this straightforward matrix multiplication bug that was opened almost 15 years ago, and a fix was even posted in an issue comment 14 years ago, and yet it's still open.

For me, it was probably Centipede. I remember my dad used to play it when we went to our local mall. For a period in the '80s they had a couple of arcade machines by each of the entrances, and Centipede was his favorite. I tried playing it too, but I was pretty terrible back then. 😅

I had a 1660, which was also 300 baud, but could do dialing—sort of. It didn't have Hayes commands. Instead pulse dialing worked by the computer telling it to hang up and pick up very fast. Tone dialing worked by having the computer audio pipe into the modem, so you'd generate DTMF tones in the SID.

The number of scam calls I get has seen a dramatic increase since March of this year. It went from one junk call every few weeks to multiple per week every single week on my cell, and from ZERO to also multiple per week on our landline. We ended up turning off the ringers on our landline.
