I feel like equity is the definition of counting your chickens before they hatch.

Sadly my parents were one of those ARM loans and they were “fortunate” to be able to short sell if I remember right. I worked at a real estate closings law firm for 5yrs and know just enough to be dangerous with these things 😅

I’ve got one of those “golden handcuff” mortgage rate so I definitely wouldn’t refi, but I’m worried about getting a HELOC if home prices drop and my home is worth less than the mortgage + HELOC.
