"I'm stuck mid scene and idk how to make that work." Put. That. Blorbo. Somewhere. Else. Make them run to/from something. Make them interrupt. Kidnapped. Fallen down a well. Doesn't matter! Put that character somewhere else!

"They're stuck in this location." Literally put them on the other side of the area. Why did they go there, what are they doing? Are the looking out a window? Are they trying to get some space from the other person they are with? Idk! But put that little freak on the other side of that space!

"But it doesn't make sense for them to go somewhere else." Okay, now you get to make it make sense. Plenty to write about.

Winks & Windows was really cathartic to write, and really my goal was to maybe help someone feel less alone in their grief. It's a story about what it's like to be left behind, and also what it's like to be found. If you want to check it out, Winks & Windows is on KindleUnlimited and paperback. 🩷

Grief is all consuming, and world shaping. *And* even in the darkest pit of it, people will find you and love you. They will show up for you, and carry you on days when all your strength is spent shouldering your grief. You will be loved even on your worst days.

The grief of being left behind as a disabled person during the (ongoing) pandemic, the grief of losing your parents in various ways, the grief of losing community and people, the grief of watching yourself deteriorate, etc.

I often wonder what it would be like to live a life unshaped by grief, but the truth is, I don't know if I could even picture it. My book was a way to process a lot of the grief I've lived with the last few years.

While ratings are for readers, it shows me that I'm not hitting the right audience, but tt is consistently where I get the most reach and engagement :/
