Just Me
@laurelbusch.bsky.social
I'm invisible on social media. Does that mean I can say anything I want?
I used to enjoy nature photos, but I don't anymore because it's hard to tell what's natural and what's edited. I just saw a No. Nevada photo of bright autumn leaves--and bright green brush around it. Brush is gray here now! I'm attaching an unedited photo of tamarisk foliage and rabbitbrush.

Happy Labor Day from the widow of a man who worked all his life for the union benefits I'm still enjoying. Too bad the IUOE/Operating Engineers doesn't have an account here yet. @aflcio.org

For #internationaldogday . I took this picture as we were leaving the SPCA shelter when I adopted this perfect dog in January.

Sometimes nature sucks. This smug, beautiful coyote has just killed and eaten something in my back yard (photo taken through the window). I'm sparing you the photos of it eating its prey, which I have not been able to identify. I love all the critters in my yard and hate it when they eat each other.

Umm . . . I don't think these nail clippers are going to make my dog's day. I'm trying to get up the nerve to try them.

Post yourself from a different era.

I learned tonight that kochia produces pollen. I am late removing it from the county right-of-way this year, and it is starting to flower. (Flowers are nearly invisible.) I took this photo a month ago, and the plants are 4 or 5 feet tall now. Achoo!

Happy Flag Day! I was going to skip putting up my flag today because I didn't want to seem to be honoring the narcissist's birthday parade. However, I've always observed Flag Day, so I'm doing it anyway.

I'm an introvert. I even try to time my work in the front yard for times when the fewest people will be out walking. Yesterday three neighbors I know stopped at various times while I was cleaning out weeds by the street, and we had nice visits. I consider them friends. I'm blessed. 🌱

I garden in Northern Nevada. I let rabbitbrush grow in my back yard but keep it out of my front yard. (Most people around here think that rabbitbrush is sagebrush. Sigh.)

People who assume all big dogs are aggressive are foolish. Mine just wants to make friends but rarely gets the chance because people are afraid of her.

My dog.

I checked to see what my dog was barking at and saw this. I live near the edge of town, and I wasn't surprised. However, this is a young coyote and probably hasn't learned to stay out of sight. This why I hate taking my dog out at night! #wildlife

Not that I'm old or anything, but I have my diary from 1962, when I was 9. I also recorded history as it happened. Here's what I wrote about John Glenn Feb. 20, 1962. (I've kept a diary or journal ever since that year.)

I adopted this sweet dog less than 2 months ago, and from the first day it was as if she'd been here forever (for both of us). #nationalpetday

My local writers group on Facebook likes to keep everything upbeat, so I'm expressing my opinion of this new post here. The author isn't looking for a good editor, just a cheap one. I'm sure she will find someone willing to take the job, and she will be wasting her money. #amediting

It was not a good afternoon to open my mail and find this request from Catherine Cortez Masto. She's shamelessly asking for money to "fight Trump's dangerous agenda" while she keeps voting with the Republicans. The form will be going back with my opinion, not $.

I had to say goodbye to my previous dog in August, and I adopted this 60-pound angel five weeks ago. Hello, dog hair, my old friend . . . and worth every hair.

Happy Valentine's Day! I brought my valentine home from the SPCA Nevada shelter 3 weeks ago, and I am madly in love with her. The photo was taken a few hours after I brought her home, but she is in the same place doing the same thing behind me right now.

Authentic Nevada. I'm glad some things haven't changed since my husband-to-be bought a new '73 pickup so we could go four-wheel-driving. (We were less conscious of the environment then.

It was one of the first things residents were proud to show me when I moved to Reno 54 years ago. I confess it's been a while since I visited it. More recently, I have used this card to borrow books electronically. I have covered the sticker with my bar code number here.

I never thought of getting a tattoo of the title of my book! Well, it's a little long for that . . .

Coincidence! I just got around to reading the copy I bought from Scholastic Books when I was 11. In those days they sold books like that to elementary school children, but I don't think I read it then. I wonder why! Now I don't think it's bad except for the long paragraphs.

Just a few. I also have lots of quail and other birds, occasional bull snakes and marmots, and lots more.

My gg-grandfather was given the middle name of Tyndal, presumably after William Tyndale. My family lived near the Tyndale monument in Nibley, Gloucestershire.
