There's more to this. Reports are that a search warrant had been executed in connection with an international drug and human trafficking operation. That explains why IRS, ATF, and FBI were there. Things got out of hand so Mpls police were called in. Doesn't explain this guy.

FinCEN exempted "large" companies with sales over $5 million, more than 20 employees, and an office in the US. It was burdensome for any small entity. For example, board members of my HOA had to report driver's license and SSN. They didn't understand and were not happy.

CPA here, letting you know how much you are appreciated. Over the last 30 years I may have done some grumbling while responding to those Ogden notices, but today you are part of our team. My heart goes out to all those who lost their jobs, and all those left behind to pick up the pieces.

IRS may have made a mistake. I amended a return once that set off an avalanche of notices. Thousands of dollars went back and forth between client and IRS, covering 3 years returns, before it was over. Nothing client or I did was incorrect.

I'm a numbers person, not government espionage. I think more people need to see this part of the email story. My transgender daughter is employed by DOD and works on super secret computer stuff, and she's on high alert. My opinion, the test emails were a test just to see how compliant you are.
