Elem Academic Coach, MCTM President Elect, believes in each child’s brilliance & unlimited capacity to do great things, lover of math, mother, reader and runner.
Does anyone have an article about responsive decision making that supports using a curricular resource as base tool and then using data to respond? Looking for common language and practices to support teachers.

These are some of my favorite talking points from Bridges in Mathematics for context.

If you are here at #MCTMDuluth, take a walk on the boardwalk to learn through these murals. They feature both the “historical & contemporary depictions of Indigenous peoples connected in our region.”

There is so much joy in 1st grade as they lead Number Corner, share their thinking, listen to one another, find structure & patterns, while cheering each other on. It’s exciting that these daily NC activities align with our new MN Math Strand, Patterns & Relationships! #CrestView #OsseoAreaSchools

I’m so excited to present with Kristin Johnson about Anchor Standard 5 at the MCTM conference Saturday at 8:15. You’ll get to hear how one of our CV students notices and generalizes relationships and patterns. #CrestView #OsseoAreaSchools

Working on equivalence and number relationships which was tough…at first. They started with what they knew, drew representations, discussed what wasn’t right and at the end wanted a picture to show they figured it out. Strong & beautiful math identities 🤩

Data Analysis is now about 1/3 of MN’s 2020 standards. Our 1st grade team integrated it into a Bridges lesson and it was a wonderful learning experience.

Don’t buy a literacy program that centers Andrew Jackson as a hero. It’s ridiculous that I even need to say that but here we are. www.fjc.gov/history/admi....

Reading this reminds me we’re fortunate to have Bridges for math; content learning, progressions, goals, tasks, potential questions, possible student responses. W/ intentional planning & awareness, teachers can bring a critical lens to respond to their students & hold high expectations. #CrestView

How lucky am I to work with incredible educators and families who support one another! Plus I got a fun birthday surprise. If you’re in the Twin Cities area, you need to try Reyes Restaurant!

Our 5th grade teachers added African contributions to the European Renaissance & the Harlem Renaissance to an ELA unit. It’s wonderful to see how they are showing their learning, amplifying the beauty & joy.

James Brickwedde’s work w/the MN STEM Tchr Center is an invaluable resource. I use it in our #CrestView PD to help Ts leverage stu strengths, make thinking visible & increasing comprehension.
“Knowing what the stu already knows is key to understanding how one might proceed.”

Great article about building awareness and reflection about practices. It also supports the need for math coaches.
